Being visible for the right searches

DIGITAL FOUNDATION · GENEVA, SWITZERLAND
Your business deserves to be found by the people looking for its services. I work on your organic search visibility and your presence in AI assistants, with goals tied to your business.

Be found. Be chosen.
We identify the queries that matter for your offer and your area. Search volume alone is not enough: the topic has to match what your future clients actually need.
Reporting covers the pages and queries we work on, impressions, clicks and organic traffic. Once measurement is in place, we also track incoming enquiries.
The audit is the starting point. Changes are compared against it, without presenting them as a guarantee of rankings or revenue. You receive a clear update on the work done and the next priorities.
I check what stands in the way of crawling and indexing: URL structure, titles, internal links, orphan pages, duplicates and performance. The goal is to prioritise the fixes that matter.
Each page answers a precise intent. Titles, H1s, descriptions, internal links and content are reworked together. In a redesign, existing URLs and redirects are part of the plan.
We choose the topics to cover based on your trade. The content provides clear answers, examples and verifiable information, without multiplying near-identical pages.
I review existing links and mentions to identify relevant opportunities: partners, suitable business directories and publications related to your field. The scope of any link-building work is defined in the proposal.
Actions are tracked over time. Priorities evolve according to the results observed, changes in your offer and your clients’ needs.
A business working in Geneva does not necessarily answer the same searches as one active across French-speaking Switzerland. We pin down your area, your services and the languages you actually work in.
Consistent contact details, your service pages and your Google Business Profile are among the points to review. Genuine reviews and practical information also help visitors assess your business.
GEO is about visibility in the answers of AI assistants. I work on the clarity of the information about your business, the structure of your content and the consistency of the sources that describe you.
This work complements SEO. It guarantees neither a citation by an assistant nor a recommendation: answers vary by tool, query and context. We keep observations separate from reproducible results. I have written up what the NBER study reveals about how people use AI in my article ChatGPT vs Google.
I’m Thierry Barbezat, an independent consultant in Geneva. You deal directly with the person who audits the site, proposes the actions and follows their implementation. In an SEO agency, these roles are often split between a salesperson, a project manager and someone who does the work.
There is a trade-off: I don’t produce dozens of articles a month and I don’t manage Google Ads campaigns. If that is what you need, a larger agency will be a better fit. To help you choose one, I have gathered the criteria for choosing an SEO agency in Geneva.
Having run an SME shapes this approach: choosing priorities, making the budget understandable and tying the work to the company’s goals. About my background.
A one-off audit, page optimisation and regular monitoring do not cover the same work. The quote sets out the deliverables, the actions included and how often we review progress.

About my backgroundFREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Technical fixes show within a few weeks. Content takes three to six months to settle in, sometimes longer in a competitive sector. Anyone who promises you the first page within a month is selling you something other than SEO.
No, and nobody honestly can: rankings depend on an algorithm nobody controls and on competitors who are moving too. What I commit to is the work carried out and how it is measured — tracked rankings, traffic, incoming enquiries.
Rarely. Most sites gain a lot by fixing their structure, their titles and their speed. A rebuild is only justified if the technical base cannot be salvaged — and in that case it must keep the existing URLs, or the site loses the authority it has built up.
It is changing shape. Generative engines cite sources: appearing among them takes structured content, clean structured data and a clearly identified entity. It is still search optimisation, with partly different criteria — I work on both together.
I work mostly in French-speaking Switzerland, because knowing the local market genuinely matters for local SEO. For a non-geographical topic, however, where the client is based makes no difference.
SEO works on the site’s organic visibility. SEA relies on paid ads and an advertising budget. Which one fits depends on your goals and timeline; SEO support does not automatically include managing ad campaigns.
The budget depends on the scope: audit, fixes, content or ongoing monitoring. The proposal sets out the deliverables and how often we review progress before work starts.
To talk directly to the person doing the work. With me, the audit, the recommendations and the follow-up are handled by the same person, with no handover to a junior. An SEO agency remains the better choice if you need large volumes of content, paid campaigns and a dedicated team all at once.
